African American Genealogical Society, Cleveland, Ohio
This membership organization is open to anyone interested in genealogy and family history. Members share their expertise through regular meetings as well as seminars and workshops held throughout the area. The AAGS website lists meeting and seminar dates as well as many online resources for African-American genealogical research.

Ancestry Library Edition (In-Library Use Only)
Ancestry Library Edition provides easy access to more than 4,000 genealogy databases with a single search. Coverage focuses primarily on the United States and the United Kingdom, although other areas are covered. Databases include the complete U.S. Census & Index (1790-1930), vital, church, court, and immigration records. The Map Center contains more than 1,000 historical maps. Other notable collections include Daughters of the American Revolution Lineage Books; Social Security Death Index (updated monthly); WWI Draft Registration Cards; Federal Slave Narratives; and a strong Civil War collection. Databases are updated continuously as new information becomes available.

Cleveland State University’s Special Collections supports and maintains this digital collection of texts, maps, and images, as well as access tools for digital and non-digital works, all concerning the history of greater Cleveland and the Western Reserve region of northeastern Ohio.

Cleveland Jewish History
The Cleveland Jewish History website presents local Jewish history and information including biographies, family histories, news articles, interactive tours, photos, resources, and other material on Jewish history in Cleveland.

Cleveland Memory Project
A searchable and constantly growing online archives of books, photographic images, and exhibits showcasing the Special Collections of the Cleveland State University Library as well as materials housed in other institutions, including a collection of photographs from the Shaker Heights Public Library (click on "find images" and type "Shaker Heights Public Library").

Encyclopedia of Cleveland History
The Encyclopedia of Cleveland History is the online and updated version of the reference book compiled by David D. Van Tassel and John J. Grabowski. You may browse topics or search for a particular person or subject.

Cleveland State University`s Levin College of Urban Affairs provides this resource for statistical data pertaining to northern Ohio. Detailed data files are compiled from several sources, including the Bureau of the Census and the Ohio Department of Development.

The Ohio Memory Project is an online scrapbook of digital images gathered from the collections of libraries, historical societies, and museums across the state of Ohio.

Sanborn Fire Insurance Maps
These large scale street plans produced by the Sanborn Fire Insurance company from 1867 to 1970 are heavily used in libraries by a wide range of researchers, including local historians to locate and identify buildings and neighborhoods, urban historians to study the growth of towns and cities, and environmentalists concerned about impact of new developments.
