Library Sponsors 16th Annual Dr. Martin Luther King Student Writing Contest

Students are asked to consider:
In 1964, President Johnson signed the Civil Rights Act into law. This landmark piece
of legislation outlawed discrimination against racial, ethnic, national and religious minorities, and women. Fifty years later, we are still struggling for equality for all. What can you do in your lifetime to ensure that everyone is treated equally?
Prizes will be awarded for first, second, and third place in three categories: grades 3 & 4; grades 5 & 6, grades 7 & 8, and winners will be announced at an Awards Reception at 4:30 p.m. Friday, January 17, 2014 at the Main Library.
