Shaker Heights Blueprints
Do we have blueprints for your Shaker Heights home?
- If your home was built in 1945 or later, we likely have your original plans on microfilm.
- If your home was built before 1945, we may have plans on microfilm for a post-1945 addition or renovation, but we likely do not have your original construction plans. The Van Sweringen Company and, later, the city of Shaker Heights routinely discarded plans after the project was completed, and only in 1945 began to microfilm blueprints before discarding them.
You can check the date of your home's construction by searching the Building Card database.
- If the Building Card record says 'no blueprints on microfilm,' that means we know we do not have any plans for your home in our microfilm collection.
- If plans exist and we have already digitized those plans, there will be a 'Digitized blueprints' link to them in your home's Building Card record.
- If there is no 'Digitized blueprints' link and no message saying there are no blueprints, you may email Local History to see if blueprints exist and request that we digitize and share them with you if so. Please include your building address in your email.
